Books, wine, books, and more books!

So now that I am dusting off my blog, yet again, I am trying to really stick with it.  I have so many things I want to blab about but so little time.  Had I kept up with my blog, it would have been smooth sailing.

Anyhoo, I started a new book club here in good ol central NJ. Happily Ever After Book Club - via Meetup.com, Our first meet was last month and it turned out to be a lot of fun!  I met two great gals, and of course, true to her awesomeness, one of my BFFs WA met me there.  According to her, she wanted to make sure I didn't go in to meet a bunch of psycho killers so she had my back. I LOVE YOU, WA!  Anyways, check out the bookclub, it's a fun bunch!

If you're on Twitter, join me and my other book club as well.  I am uber proud to say I am a part of this: Twitter - TheSubClubBookClub, so if you're on Twitter join me.  My personal one is: MeUandMaddy
Don't want to be bossy or anything, but go join us.  We are book nerds but we have a blast and we chat about some damn hot books.

Ooh, today is Friday, which means it is THE Friday.  Once a month, my fellow moms from Maddy's school meet up for a girls only dinner.  And today is that Friday!  I am looking forward to it, they are a bunch of amazing women and FUNNY as Hell.  Tonight's treat will at MediTerra Restaurant, we went to their sister restaurant last month and THAT was amazing.  They gave us a private room and after an unmentionable number of bottles of wine later, we ended up closing the restaurant.  Again, sorry Mr. Valet guy for holding you up!!!  Hope the tips made up for your wait.  So I am looking forward to seeing my girls tonight, especially since since I haven't seen them often because of summer break.

Sigh, what else.  For now, I will conclude.  Maddy, J and I have been enjoying summer break...well, sorta.  We have been hiding from the damn heat as much as possible, but we've been having fun nonetheless.  Will follow up soon!

I want to move in...

Today was a huge milestone for my baby. Maddy graduated from kindergarten and while some of my non-child bearing friends say, what's the big deal? It's friggin' KINDERGARTEN, not like she's graduating from Princeton. HMPH to you, I say! It's a big accomplishment, my baby is transitioning from a baby to a big girl, heading into first grade. Of course, at the ceremony, I cried. They made little time capsules in class and it's sealed, the teachers said we have to promise not to open them until they graduate HIGH SCHOOL...in the year 2024. Doesn't that seem like a million years away? I will try my best and be good, and not peek until 12 years from now. Good luck on that.
As a graduation present, and for being such an awesome girl all most of the time, we got Mads an iPad. I LOVE my iPad, even though mine is old as heck, it's one of the first ones that came out, you know - the one that weights a ton and is mega bulky...yea, that one. And J has a newer one from work, so we figured instead of a DS or whatever the hip new trendy video game thing is, we can invest in an iPad for her...she can watch Netflix and play games...or do what Mommy loves doing on her iPad - READ! It was nice because when I told my sister & my mom what we were getting her, they all offered to chip in. SCORE! So the price we would have paid for a new video game thing, we all chipped in and got her something we know will last longer than a week. But what made me want to cry was, J decided he wanted to be funny and give her the Apple shopping bag with another toy in it. It was some baby Cabbage Patch doll, when she saw the bag, she got SO excited, I almost caved. Seriously, when she said "oooh, I hope it's an iPod" (not even an iPad).  I almost body checked J so I can give her the real gift. But when she opened the bag & saw the CBK toy, she was just as pretty excited. She said "Wow, an awesome doll, thanks guys"! That was bittersweet. Even though, she didn't get her iPod - she was just as happy with a small little doll. Call it what you want, but yes - we spoil her, whenever we can. But it's moments like these that I don't give a hoot, that we spoil her, because she is not a brat. I only half expected her to say, "oh, thanks..." and walk away, but I knew better - but she was just as happy with the doll...(that she actually loves and is STILL playing with, I might add). Well, we finally caved and gave her the iPad, she was SO excited. Since this is a blog of Me U and Maddy - I hope you know, this will be full of blurbs of Mads and our adventures. And be sure to know, you will hear about my rants of how she mistreats the iPad as well...she's not perfect, you know.
Anyhoo - afterwards, we jumped in the car and headed down to AC. I am reporting live from The Borgata Casino & Spa. I love it here...can I move in? Can I live vicariously through some of these high rollers? A friend of ours got us a suite and I am in love. We are actually here to take J's mom & aunt to see Frankie Valli. Well, our friend got us a couple of extra tickets so I told J to take M. This way, I get to enjoy this sprawling space, peace & quiet, and I get to read...which according to Chinese tradition, is bad luck in a casino. Whateves. It's on my iPad, so there's no 'actual' book (book translated sounds exactly like lose)...crazy Asians. My mom would give me an earful for 'reading' at a casino. It MAY or may not hold truth, while they are at the concert, I decided to hit the casino floor - just to have a look see - and I after 20 mins of walking around, feeling the eye in the sky following me, I put $20 in a slot machine - mind you a FIVE CENT machine. I hit max bet and the mother-humper took $5.00 per spin! I was blown away and wanted to just yank my f'ing $20 bill out, with all the blinking lights, ringing bells, and shiny buttons, I didn't know what to hit. So whatever it was that I hit, it took me about 7 spins - or less - and my $20 was GONE. Oh the injustice! See, my true game is Let It Ride. But it just takes a lot of money to play a table, even at $10 minimum. I watched a couple of hands and I was ITCHING to join...but I was good. Borgata, as lovely as it is here, is in the business to take your money. So my cheap-side came out. I watched, when I was just jonesing enough to join, I simply took my bottle of water and walked away...back to the quiet bliss of my suite. $20 is all you are getting from me on that casino floor... So J & Mads, along with my mil & his aunt are enjoying Frankie Valli (second row center!) while I am lounging and relaxing here in pure quietness...with my cash still in my pocket!  PLUS, I get to sit here with my platter of cheese, fruits, and crackers...I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday night.
Wow, this is a lot for me to blog already, yay me! Until tomorrow. xoxo

So after a short hiatus, I am back to blogging. Same thing, nothing fancy, nothing showy, no flashy displays, or beautiful fonts. This is is. Maybe as I continue to blog, I'll become more savvy and then my blog will blossom! I don't know why I stopped blogging, I think I became paranoid - who knows. And the lack of time, or maybe, just maybe, I was jealous of all those beautiful blogs out there with awesome photos, step-by-step tutorials and billions of followers. But I'm going to remind myself that this is just for me to share and archive my adventures, nothing else. So, hopefully - I'll REMEMBER to blog, there are days where I'm doing something and say to myself, Oooh, I should blog about this...but a nanosecond later, my mind has wandered elsewhere and the blog completely forgotten. I will try, that's all I can say, I will try.
